Togbui Asumadu VIII the chief clothe in with the authority to signal Akpini’s when Okpekpewoukpe intends to dance in his carriage.
Togbui Asumadu VIII, reside his authority over the Atiafume division of the Akpini state in Dzigbe. He rules over three communities originally, Dzigbe, Dzewoe, and Tsakpui, but in recent times communities within the river bodies like Tokor and others are considered to fall within the Atiafume enclave.
As part of his constituents, he holds control over most part of the commercial landscape of Kpando, which is within the Tsakpui geographical area.
Togbui Asumadu VIII, is the left-wing chief of Okpekpewoukpe. He sits to the left side of Akpinifia. However it will interest you to know that, whenever Okpekpewoukpe is absent and Togbui Afendza acts, he Togbui Asumadu moves to the right wing of the acting paramount chief.
As a senior divisional chief, he sits in palanquin, however, he is prohibited from dancing in his palanquins and only wave at the crowds when it becomes necessary. Other chiefs who equally sits in palanquins can dance, but Togbui Asumadu doesn’t.
One interesting role he played that will shock a lot of young people is that, anytime Akpinifia intends to dance in his carriage, there are some critical signals that has to take place for that to happen.
He the Okpekpewoukpe must announce to his wing chiefs of his intention to dance by touching the carriage in a way that announces his intentions, his right-wing chief Togbui Afendza will touch his carriage as well, after which Togbui Asumadu will touch his palanquin and raise a hand to inform the crowd that, the Okpekpewoukpe is dancing in his carriage which is not visible for all to see because of the nature of the carriage. The only time you notice Okpekpewoukpe is dancing is when Togbui Asumadu raises his hands to inform the crowd that, such an activity was ongoing.
In all the three divisions, Togbui Asumadu is the youngest in terms of enstool-ment and age, he was enstooled as early as November 2021, this however has no bearing on his authority and role in the scheme of things.
